US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA is Hiring an Educational Technician Near Houston, TX

Duties

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of medical simulation in a Level I Trauma Medical Center.
  • Update, maintain, and manage databases for the GME-Simulation Service to ensure accurate and timely information management.
  • Provide technical and programming support for operating the state-of-the-art Human Patient Simulators (HPS) and other simulation systems, coordinating training on highly sophisticated HPS.
  • Provide reports to the Administrator on Simulation Center use, training information requirements, and budget issues, and query database information to create reports, graphs, tables, and charts.
  • Plan simulation experiences for health care providers, physicians, and nurses to include overseeing and proctoring simulation exercises, and simulation-enhanced medical competencies validation for BAMC training programs.
  • Participate in the development of lesson plans, program simulation scenarios, and produce simulation learning materials to support trauma and medical readiness training.
  • Account for all simulation and office automation equipment for the department by conducting 10% monthly and 100% semi-annual inventory.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of medical simulation systems.

  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative or operational support to a medical education simulation center, maintaining medical simulation testing equipment, and utilizing database information to produce reports, graphs, tables, or charts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
